How to duplicate a project with the budget?

Written by Alexandra Gallisová

To duplicate a project, follow these steps:

  1. Use the Action button from the project detail or from the list of projects.

  2. Choose the ‘Duplicate’ option.

  3. Choose if you also want to copy all tasks from the previous project. When this option is enabled, the possibility to copy attachments from tasks will become available too.

  4. Click on 'Duplicate'

  5. In project details, edit the duration, project category or assigned project managers if necessary.

When you duplicate a project with a budget, the budget is also copied over and automatically assigned to the project. You can make any changes to the budget by clicking on the budget and saving a new version as final.

When duplicating a project without a budget, the newly duplicated version won't have a budget either, except for the default "Not budgeted" item. After you create or assign a budget, the "Not budgeted" item is automatically removed.

What is NOT copied when duplicating a project

When you duplicate a project, keep in mind:

  • Tracked time (hours already logged) is not copied to the duplicated tasks. If you need to bring tracked hours along, use "Move" on the individual task instead of duplicating the whole project.

  • If the original project has a repetitive (e.g. monthly) budget, the Invoicing Plan of the duplicated project is not automatically updated to match the new project - check and adjust the Invoicing Plan manually after duplicating.
