How to create a barter or zero-value item in a budget

To show a zero-value or barter item in the project, use the dollar icon. Items priced with hours and 0 won’t appear.

Sometimes you need an item in the budget that you won’t charge the client for, for example, a barter (you deliver work in exchange for something other than money) or a free bonus service. You can add it as an item with a zero value. To make it appear in the project, it must be priced with the dollar icon, not with the clock icon.

How to add a zero-value item

  1. In the budget, go to the Agency work section.

  2. In the budget item, switch to the dollar icon (price for the service).

  3. Enter 0 as the amount.

The item then appears in the project with a value of 0.

⚠️ Don’t use the clock icon with 0 hours. If an item is priced with the clock icon (hours) and all values are 0, Allfred treats it as empty and it won’t appear in the project. If you can’t see a zero-value item in your project, check whether it uses the dollar icon.

FAQ

I added a zero-value item to the budget, but I can’t see it in the project. Why?
The item is most likely priced with the clock icon and 0 hours. Switch it to the dollar icon, enter 0, save the budget as Final and assign it to the project again.
