Discounts in a budget are applied in the dedicated Discount column, never as a separate row with a negative value. Budget discounts are already included in the prices Allfred offers for invoicing, so they don’t appear as a separate discount line on the invoice.
How to apply a discount
Click the Enable discount icon (the price tag icon). It’s available in every budget section: agency work, external production, media and others.
A new Discount column appears.
Enter either an absolute value or a percentage. You can switch between them in the column.
Discounts can be applied to individual rows, budget items, entire budget sections or the whole budget.
⚠️ Don’t use negative values in a budget. Entering a discount as a new row with a negative value can cause items to be calculated incorrectly. Always use the Discount column instead.
⚠️ Whole budget items accept only percentage discounts. If you apply a discount to a whole budget item, Allfred needs to split it across all rows in that item. That only works with a percentage, which Allfred can reduce proportionally. An absolute value (e.g. −500 EUR) works only at the row level.
How budget discounts work in invoicing
The discount is already included in the invoiced amount
When you invoice a budget with a discount, Allfred offers the price after the discount in the second step of invoicing, both in the project detail and in invoicing. The discount doesn’t appear on the invoice as a separate negative row.
If you want the invoice to show the original price and the discount as a separate line, adjust it in the third step of invoicing. First increase the item’s value to the original amount, then add a new row with the negative discount value. The total must match the amount selected in step 2.
Invoice positions don’t include the budget discount
If you invoice using Invoice positions (hourly rates by position), the discount from the budget is not applied to them automatically. Allfred can’t tell which positions’ hourly rates the discount should reduce, or by how much. In this case, apply the discount directly on the invoice in the third step.
FAQ
I applied a discount in the budget. Why don’t I see it on the invoice?
The discount is already included in the price Allfred offers for invoicing, so the amounts you see are after the discount. If you want to show the discount as a separate line, see “How budget discounts work in invoicing” above.
Can I add a discount as a row with a negative value?
No. Negative values in a budget can cause calculation issues. Use the Discount column instead.
Can I apply a fixed-amount discount to a whole budget item?
No, only a percentage. Fixed amounts work at the row level.
