How to duplicate a task

  1. Open the task detail.

  2. Click the Duplicate task icon in the top bar.

3. In the Duplicate task window, check and adjust the details of the copy:

  • Name: Allfred adds "- DUPLICATE" to the original name, so you can easily tell the copy from the original. You can change it.

  • Project, Budget item and Parent task: keep the copy in the same project, or select another project. After you select a project, choose the budget item the copy should belong to. Optionally, select a parent task to create the copy as a subtask.

  • Positions / People: change the people, their positions and total hours if needed.

  • Description, Duration, Deadline, Status, Billing category and Priority: adjust them as you need.

4. Under Attachments, choose what else should be copied:

  • Include task comments

  • Include task all attachments

  • Include linked tasks

5. Click Duplicate.

💡 The task description is copied automatically, because you usually duplicate a task to repeat the same work. Comments, attachments and linked tasks are copied only if you check them.

Duplicating a task to another project

If some positions from the original task don't exist in the target project, Allfred shows Position mapping required. The people with these positions have an empty position in Positions / People.

Under Map positions, select a New position for each Current position that isn't available in the target project. The people are then assigned to the copied task under the new position, and their time will be tracked under it.
