A project can have more than one budget, for example when the client orders additional work during the project. All budget items from all assigned budgets appear together in the project. Each budget can have several versions, but only one version of each budget can be assigned to the project at a time.

If two budgets in the same project contain a budget item (blue row) with the same name, Allfred merges them into one item in the project and adds up their values. To keep them separate, make the names different, even by a single character, for example “Social media” and “Social media – extension”.

Rename each budget with the pencil icon, or add a description, so you can tell at a glance what each budget covers, for example “Main campaign” and “Extra video – March”.

Allfred isn’t designed for projects with dozens of budgets and a large number of items. A project like that can load slowly. There’s no fixed limit, but if you’re planning a large, year-long project, we recommend creating one project per month instead of one project with many budgets.

If a project has more than one budget, you can combine them into a single quote:

Why are items from two budgets merged into one in my project?
They have exactly the same name. Rename one of them, even slightly, to keep them separate.

Can I have two versions of the same budget assigned to a project?
No. Only one version of each budget can be assigned at a time. If you need both, create a new budget instead of a new version.

Is there a limit on the number of budgets in a project?
There’s no fixed limit, but many budgets with many items can slow the project down. For large, year-long work, use one project per month.
